UCL East Marshgate has received a RIBA London Award and has also been named RIBA London Building of the Year 2026.
Designed by Stanton Williams for University College London, the Marshgate building forms part of the wider UCL East campus within Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in East London. The 35,000m² academic building was designed to support interdisciplinary teaching, research and collaboration through a combination of flexible teaching spaces, specialist laboratories, workshops and public-facing environments.
In its award citation, the project was described as “an expression of confidence in the future”, with the RIBA recognising the building’s ambitious approach to teaching, learning and research.
SB Laboratories contributed to the project through the manufacture and supply of 67 Ecoline fume cupboards supporting the specialist teaching and research laboratories within the building.
Congratulations to Stanton Williams, UCL, Mace and the wider consultant and project delivery team involved in the development of this significant new academic and research environment.
