Year 9 students from The Albion Academy in Salford recently joined us for a behind-the-scenes tour of our showroom, offices and manufacturing facility, gaining first-hand insight into how laboratory and educational furniture is designed and manufactured.
Located just three miles from the school, SB Laboratories is currently delivering three state-of-the-art science laboratories and two food technology rooms for The Albion Academy as part of its major investment in learning facilities.
The furniture has been designed and manufactured by SB Labs, with installation currently underway at the school. The new spaces will provide purpose-designed environments for practical science teaching and learning, alongside professional-standard food tech spaces.
From design to manufacture
During the tour, students learned about the process behind each project, from the initial design stages through to manufacture and installation. On the manufacturing floor, they saw the machinery, processes and specialist skills involved in producing laboratory and educational furniture at our Manchester facility.
As part of The Albion Academy’s Careers Programme, students were also introduced to career and apprenticeship pathways across design, engineering and manufacturing. The visit concluded with a Q&A with members of the SB Laboratories team.

Working with local schools
As a school in our local community, the visit was an opportunity to work more closely with The Albion Academy , collaborating on new learning spaces while also supporting students to engage with local industry.
SB Laboratories works with schools across Greater Manchester and throughout the UK and internationally, designing, manufacturing and installing laboratory furniture for new science facilities and refurbishment projects.
