Josh Arnold, our Furniture and Fume cupboards Fitter, applied for a job with SB Labs at the age of 16 through a government initiative called Connexions which helped to get young people into work after leaving High School.
As part of the scheme, Josh had to work through a 6-month probationary period with little compensation and no guarantee of earning a full-time contract. Josh proved himself a popular employee very quickly with his determination to work hard. He worked on the shop floor doing manual labour and slowly learning all aspects of furniture manufacturing.
SB Labs were so impressed with Josh, we offered him a full-time contract and the rest is history!
He has since completed an NVQ Level 2 in furniture installation, holds a skilled worker CSCS card and is now a fully-fledged laboratory installer.
Most impressively though, Josh has travelled the globe extensively over the past 11 years working for SB Labs to install furniture projects from prestigious International Schools in Kuala Lumpur, to gas pipeline projects in the Algerian desert.
We’re proud to have Josh as part of the SB Labs team and long may it continue!
