Science Laboratories Transformed at JESS Dubai

Schools & colleges Science STEM General news

SB Laboratories has completed the refurbishment of 12 science laboratories at JESS Arabian Ranches in Dubai, designing, manufacturing and installing a bespoke laboratory furniture package for one of the UAE’s most established international schools.

For more than 50 years, JESS has been part of Dubai’s educational landscape, growing from just 17 pupils in 1975 to a community of more than 2,300 students. At Arabian Ranches, the refurbishment represents a significant investment in the environments supporting science teaching and learning.

Curiosity is one of JESS’s six core values, reflecting an approach to education that encourages students to question, investigate and explore. The transformation of the laboratories provides renewed spaces in which that curiosity can be put into practice.

The 12 refurbished laboratories feature a range of bespoke furniture configurations, from student workstations incorporating storage and practical science services to teaching walls and mobile teacher’s desks. Each space was considered individually, allowing the furniture to respond to different laboratory layouts and teaching requirements. The complete package was designed and manufactured at SB Labs’ Manchester facility before installation in Dubai.

Taking the project from Manchester through to completion in Dubai required careful planning and coordination, particularly during a challenging period for the wider region.

For international schools looking to refurbish or upgrade existing science laboratories, JESS provides a strong example of what can be achieved through considered laboratory design and bespoke furniture.

From manufacture in Manchester to installation in Dubai, SB Labs supports school laboratory projects throughout the UAE, Middle East and internationally.
