SB Laboratories is delighted to announce that it has been named Best Contractor at the Construction News & Property Week Life Sciences, Tech & Research Clusters Awards 2026.
The awards celebrate excellence in the design, development and delivery of life sciences, technology and research facilities across the UK, recognising the organisations, projects and people shaping the future of the sector.
Selected by an expert judging panel, SB Laboratories was recognised for its expertise in delivering high-specification laboratory environments across a diverse range of sectors and project scales.
The judges’ comments reflected both the breadth of the company’s experience and the quality of its project delivery:
“A true leader in the delivery of spaces and products that support the industry and future innovation in the life sciences sector.”
“SB Laboratories have shown themselves to be adept at working across the full spectrum of science projects, from higher education through to speculative commercial labs and commercial end users across a range of scales.”
They also noted strong client feedback on major developments, including the Birmingham Health Innovation Campus, the National Graphene Institute and the Life and Mind Building at the University of Oxford.

Three projects to which SB Laboratories contributed were also recognised at this year’s awards.
The Life and Mind Building at the University of Oxford, designed by NBBJ, received four awards: Project of the Year, Best New Campus Development, Sustainability & Environmental Impact, and Innovative Lab Space Solutions.
Trinity by Breakthrough received the Best New Building award, while Victoria House London was recognised with the Best Retrofit & Reuse Building – Lab & Specialist Facility award.
