Following the successful laboratory furniture installation at the first phase new Graphene development facilities and Manchester University, SB Labs has been awarded the contract to fit out the second phase.
The main contractor is Laing O’Rourke and the architects are Pallavi Dean.

The furniture specification is once again bespoke and had been developed between the end user and SB Labs Modular benches using Bosch Rexroth demountable framework and a mixture of ToplabPLUS and ceramic worktops are again being used. Modules generally 1500 and 1800mm wide. The ceramic benches are clear bench tops with some minimal height adjustment. First phase of installation due in December, final phase in February.

The Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre (GEIC) will fill a critical gap in the ecosystem for graphene and 2D material research, development and application in the UK. The University’s second world-class multi-million pound graphene-focused centre will see industry-led development in applications through partnership with academics.

The GEIC will offer the UK the unique opportunity to establish a leading role in disruptive technology that spans a number of industrial sectors. The GEIC will focus on pilot production and characterisation.
