SB Labs have been shortlisted for the Supporting Associate of the Year Award for our work on the Innovative Labs at Wellington College International School Bangkok.
The school opened their new senior school in 2021, an astonishing building with state-of-the-art facilities and SB Labs designed, manufactured and installed bespoke furniture and fume cupboards for the science laboratories and prep room.
The focus was on creating unique spaces therefore the two-science labs were fitted with custom-made Crescent Island benches, providing generous writing space during theory classes and easy access to bench mounted services during experiments.
The under-bench integrated storage allows for the equipment to be stored away when not in use, while the aluminium corner profiles add a contemporary and stylish finish.
The spacious laboratories benefit from a generous amount of natural light and the white seamless Corian surfaces create modern and inviting educational spaces while providing durability and chemical resistance.
SB Labs looked at the best ways of utilising the space and provided storage solutions, such as teaching walls with integrated smartboards that are an excellent example of creating space-efficient storage that serves a dual purpose.
Keeping students engaged and safe during experiments lead us to suppling the Mobiline re-circulatory fume cupboard as well as the Ecoline, the ducted one, both fitted with glass viewing panels, for ease of demonstration and group activity.
Collaborating closely with the school staff and our agent in Thailand, overcoming the challenges of delivering the project during a pandemic, SB Labs created unique science spaces, that blend harmoniously with the rest of the building, helping the school achieve one of the most astonishing educational buildings not only in the city but globally.
