American International School of Bucharest

AISB was founded in 1962 and is currently Bucharest’s largest international school. They are a not-for-profit, independent, secular, co-educational school and a member of CEESA (The Central & Eastern European Schools Association).

The School offers the finest purpose-built facility in town, on a 10-hectare campus constructed in 2001 and in order to maximize teaching and learning spaces for their students they focus on a number of campus expansion projects to achieve their goal.

As part of their strategic plan of implementing innovative learning spaces, SB Labs worked closely with AISB to supply, deliver and install two of their new science laboratories and two preparation rooms.

They opted for fully serviced fitted STEM workstations, serviced perimeter benching, re-circulatory fume cupboard and SpaceSaver storage walls.

The labs are spacious with an abundance of natural light and this visual feeling is carried on by the Sierra dusk Corian worktops, a note of contrast being brought in by the dark grey colour on cabinets on both island and perimeter benching.

The outcome is a space that enhances modern aesthetics, collaborative design and the use of od space, a learning environment that truly “engages/prepares/inspires”.
